INHABITING RUINS
CULTURAL CENTER
ROME, ITALY
31,000 sq.ft
WINNER OF ARCHITECTURE MASTERPRIZE 2020 - BEST OF BEST
An exploration of the potential of the ruins in Rome, this project uses the concept of adaptive reuse to inhabit the ruins of Ludus Magnus, situated opposite the monumental Colosseum. The strategy is to build a lightweight trabeated structure over the fragmented ruins. The project focuses on bringing life back to the site through music, performance and communal activities.
